It was a monumental and glamorous occasion with excitement fever in the air as Africa’s Young Entrepreneurs unveiled her groundbreaking project on Thursday, 20th February, 2020; of the World’s first entrepreneurship Urban village located in the highbrow area of, Akure, Ondo State Nigeria.

This groundbreaking project by the organization is another chapter of history for an organization committed to nurturing Africa’s entrepreneurs and investing in the opportunity to make their dreams come true. This project was lauded in powerful and symbolic phrases by many of the dignitaries present. In some of their words, the E-village is ‘’ the breath of Africa’s new heritage’’, ‘’ Africa’s greatest digital economic leap’’ and many others

Prof. Dr. Thorsten Kliewe, Chairman, Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial & Engaged Universities, The Netherlands lauded the development from Africa’s Young Entrepreneurs and encouraged African Entrepreneurs to put all hands on deck to ensure the success.

‘’ Entrepreneurial thinking in action is where our future lies… we need to get all this knowledge and transform it for economic and social impact. The initiatives A.Y.E has put forward are bold initiatives… it is not the big companies that show us what is possible, it is the startups….’’

The village is set to be a centre of innovation, multi-cultural learning, tech haven, spot for relaxation and a major catalyst for poverty eradication and knowledge sharing. The E-Village will also have many facilities such as the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED), the Garden of Wisdom (GOW), D’ Circle, The A.Y.E Tower, SWIPE, MegaMinds Creative Studio and other architectural edifice including the state of the art infrastructures according to the Executive Director of the A.Y.E Organization, Joy Michael.

The President of the organization, Summy Smart Francis, Dr. H.C of Entrepreneurship (TBU, USA) appreciated the Ondo State Governor for his sacrifice and passion for entrepreneurial development in the state. He boldly enthused:

‘’ for a Governor to embark on a project that the result will be seen in 5, 10, 20, 30 years’ time is rare… what you have done is not for yourself nor for your children. It’s for generations and your name will be flying on the wings of posterity”

In relaying the way out of poverty for Africa, the President stated emphatically that ‘’ entrepreneurship is the way out. It is a catalyst for poverty eradication, it is a fact! You cannot underestimate what is about to happen here, development without entrepreneurship is like building a sky scraper without foundation…’’ and he emphatically stated that the project will bring global business giants and tech giants who will launch and invest in the state as a result of the E-Village.

On the decision to site the project in Ondo State, Summy Smart Francis Says: ‘’Ondo State is the most kept secret of Africa, it is the safest place to invest and the best place to live in. . The people of Ondo State are hospitable and receptive.
When you are in the Village, you can create, you can think, you can be productive because of its serenity.

The Governor of the state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) was grateful to the organization for bringing an initiative that will change the perceived narrative of the state and he also pledged his unequivocal support for the organization. In his powerful words, the governor emphasized the impact this development will have on the state and the people.

’’ The E-Village is of great difference, this is remarkably a different thing, a landmark! It is the first global initiative in Ondo State… it’s already on google map for the world to see. He also stressed patience, to be able to reap the full dividends of this landmark project. This he emphasized by saying, ‘’ this is not a village that you expect; within a term of a governor it will be completed, It will definitely take some time because of the magnitude of the project.’’

Every attendee at the ground breaking ceremony had the pleasure of having their names written on the wall of posterity; the E-Village Ground Breaking Register which will be placed in the E-Village library in the coming years.
