Africa’s Young Entrepreneurs Organisation offers Entrepreneurship development masterclass scholarship to all laid off staff in Nigeria.

World’s Largest entrepreneurship network and Africa’s foremost entrepreneurship organisation has decided to come to the rescue of many laid off staff across Nigeria who were recently laid off by their company due to the pandemic by offering them the masterclass in entrepreneurship development scholarship to kick start their entrepreneurial journey. A latest research shows that over 21 million jobs will be lost due to Covid-19 in African countries. This comes in line with a recent statement by the United Nation’s Secretary General, Antonio Guterres on the 1st of May stating that ” We must create jobs for those who have lost them, honouring the dignity of work, in deeds and words”

The A.Y.E President stated in a press statement, “the Masterclass which was launched in May 2019, tagged the Mission One Million Entrepreneurs (M1ME) initiative is a program to develop one million African entrepreneurs before 2025. “The initiative was launched as a catalyst for poverty eradication and job creation in Africa. Many African countries solely depend on their under utilized Natural resources and not their human capital. Nigeria for example gets its major revenue from oil which has now suffered a major setback” He further stated that developing countries such as China are enjoying the dividend of industrialization and entrepreneurship, it is not too late for Africa to start. The best time to plant a tree is 30 years ago, and the second best time is now, the pandemic has opened our eyes to our global economic realities.

The National Head of the organisation in Nigeria Mr Olubunmi Oluwadare expressed that Nigeria is suffering from a major crisis in disengagement of the labour force in both the private and public sector, he emphasized that every Nigerian should take advantage of the master class this includes everyone; students, youth corpers, msme, traders  and even employees.  He says that people need to enroll to improve their side hustle, “side hustle is necessary now and should be encouraged by employers, we should have learnt our lesson from the Covid experience” he stated.

Joy Michael, the Organisation’s Executive Director said the registration portal is open and free. She also stated that “If you have been laid off work, access the portal by visiting the site http://www.ayeonline.org/m1me. The Master class will hold twice a month and will be held on zoom a digital online platform for video conferencing. The first class will commence on the 30th of May 2020.” She also stated that there is room for partnership and collaboration, and interested parties can email info@ayeonline.org.
