“The discussions today in parliament are tailored as crucifixion. I know Ababu is a smart and hardworking youthful CS. Talanta Hela, as an initiative, is evidently rolling. Come work and partner with us,” Bensuda said.

According to Bensuda, the MPs were dwelling on petty issues instead of giving Namwamba time to explain himself regarding the issues facing his docket.

The vocal MP further hit out at Deputy Speaker Gladys Sholei for tabling unverified photos of Adidas and Nike kits downloaded from the internet and using them to harass the Sports CS.

“From the discussion in the preliminary, it could be noticed that emphasis was made on the roles of the majority leader directed to the very unnecessary CS, I was disappointed because there was a mention of reckless talks when senior members said they didn’t care what is in the social media, very unfortunate.

The deputy speaker tabled photos of Adidas and Nike kits which are not authentic. We should give the CS time to table the evidence in the committee of sports, which can be able to verify the photos and everything instead of crucifying the minister in the house,” Bensuda said.

Why Talanta Hela app is inactive

Meanwhile, Shollei picked a hole in the Talanta Hella App, which she observed was not functioning despite being launched by President Ruto.

In his argument, Ababu explained that the software was yet to be activated, but there was progress in actualising it for public use.

The CS’s explanation would not convince Shollei, who questioned why the president had to launch something still under development.

“He (Ababu) is confirming that the president launched something that was not ready. Because if it is not live to the public, it was not necessary to launch it. Let us get a confirmation that whatever was launched is something under construction,” said Shollei.
