Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ Wins MTV’s Award
At the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), Rema, alongside Afrobeat sensation, Selena Gomez, emerged victorious by clinching the prestigious Best Afrobeats award. This dynamic duo had already secured victories in three other categories, namely Best Collaboration, Song of the Year and Best Afrobeats. Notably, they etched their names in history as the inaugural recipients of the Best Afrobeats award, facing formidable competition from renowned artists such as Burna Boy, Davido, Ayra Starr, Libianca, Wizkid and Fireboy DML. Their chart-topping track, ‘Calm Down’, which debuted on August 25, 2022, captivated audiences with its seamless fusion of Afrobeats and pop elements. Remarkably, the remix of this song achieved a milestone by maintaining a consistent presence on the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart for an entire year.

Mohbad Dies At 27
Nigerian rapper and singer, Mohbad, recognised by his birth name, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, has sadly departed from us. His untimely demise has left both fans and the entertainment world in profound mourning. Mohbad had gained widespread acclaim for his chart-topping track ‘KPK’ and had made a remarkable mark on the industry. In a recent interview with ‘The Guardian’, he expressed his gratitude and joy about his forthcoming album. Although the circumstances surrounding his passing remain undisclosed, admirers are committed to keeping his memory alive by closely following developments. May Mohbad’s soul find eternal peace.

Apple’s iPhone 15 Launch
At its September keynote event, Apple took the wraps off its iPhone 15 series, showcasing an elegant design, the powerful A16 Bionic chip, improved photography capabilities, the impressive Cinematic video mode, enhanced zoom, a remarkably smooth display, USB-C charging, and wireless charging. Notably, the iPhone 15 Pro boasts a distinctive pill-shaped front camera cutout and a smaller Face ID notch, while the iPhone 15 Pro stands out with upgraded 48-megapixel primary cameras and the addition of Cinematic Video Mode. Both models support a high-speed 120 Hz refresh rate, along with USB-C charging and wireless charging options. Prices start at $799 for the base model and go up to $1,299 for the Pro Max variant. Apple also introduced other exciting products, such as the Apple Watch Series 9, AirPods Pro 2, new MacBook Pro models, and updates to the iPad mini.

Calvin Harris and Vick’s Wedding
Scottish DJ Calvin Harris and BBC Radio 1 presenter, Vick Hope, tied the knot in a Glastonbury-inspired ceremony held at Hulne Priory in Alnwick, Northumberland.
